Omdat vanwege corona alle wedstrijden naar achteren zijn verplaatst hadden zowel de turnsters als de acrogymnasten van GVM’79 op 2 april een wedstrijd. Dat was voor de trainsters een grotere uitdaging dan voor de gymnasten, maar met de hulp van invallers kon naar elke wedstrijd goede begeleiding mee. In Kortenhoef deden de recreanten en jonge selectie turnsters hun eerste echte wedstrijd. In Februari hadden was er al in de eigen gymzaal de Brug geoefend, maar nu dan een echte wedstrijd tegen andere verenigingen. Als eerst van de dag was het de beurt aan Lea, Yura, Jill en Julie (GVM 3), zij hadden zich goed voorbereid en vooral op de vloer gooiden de dames hoge ogen. In een groot deelnemersveld werden ze uiteindelijk 4e (met medaille)! Daarna waren de selectie turnsters aan de beurt, die wat moeilijkere oefenstof moesten doen. De turnsters van GVM 4 en GVM 5 waren aan elkaar gewaagd en scoorden op alle toestellen hoger dan de concurrentie. Bij de prijsuitreiking bleek dat het groepje van Alyshia, Isabel en Femke nét 0,6 meer punten had behaald dan Hulda, Lena en Hanne. Beide GVM-teams mochten respectievelijk een gouden en zilveren medaille mee naar huis nemen. Ook de selectie meiden van GVM 6 turnden een goede wedstrijd, en behaalden op sprong één van de hogere scores. Parel, Tess, Eva en Eydis haalden 124,988pnt (9e). In de middag waren de jongsten meiden van GVM79 aan de beurt, zij turnden allemaal op 3 toestellen. Bij alle turnsters waren er zenuwen en was iedereen er op gebrand om zijn best te doen. Dit lukte ook super goed ! Bij GVM 1 was het lastig om de concentratie er de hele wedstrijd bij te houden, maar Inaya, Tifa, Vera en Noa-Yasmine werkten de oefeningen erg netjes af. Met bijna 114 punten kwamen zij op de 8e plek. Het team Tove, Logan, Zenzi, Marit en Liz zijn net wat ouder en wisten de jury op alle toestellen in te pakken met hun grote glimlachen. Ook waren gestrekte tenen en armen prima in orden en mochten de dames op het podium komen om hun zilveren medaille op te halen. Wat een goed resultaat van de GVM-teams !
In Zaandam op de acrogymwedstrijd begeleide hulptrainster Sanne de acrobaten. Ook hier zagen de oefeningen er piekfijn en netjes afgewerkt uit. Scoorden de team de vorige wedstrijd nog ruim boven de 20 punten, dat was nu helaas wat anders met de strenge jury. Finn en Abigail werkten goed samen en dansten tussen de elementen door op de vrolijke muziek van “Con Flores”. De zussen Alyshia, Zoë en Kayleigh hadden strakke balans elementen, maar het vliegtuigje gooien ging iets minder goed dan normaal. Amy-Jay, Lara en Gwenn hadden weer een strakke choreografie en elementen, waar weinig op af te dingen viel. Al met al een goede prestatie. Helaas bij acrogym geen medailles voor de GVM-teams.
